Imagine my surprise to find that it is a well written, appropriately paced interesting story. The characters are well matched and their romance is just a wonderful read. Even though I usually prefer sexier romance novel, my interest was captured from the very first pages and maintained till the happy ending. This was actually really great. There were quite a few funny moments that built up the story and characters. I would actually reread and not get bored. The only reason this isn't one of my favorites now is because it was too short. A few things in the story fell together just a little too readily though, which is why I subtracted a half star.

Misunderstandings should be the title O God. Lady Constance was always constantly misunderstanding situations. She thinks she is clever. Yet, throughout the book I was unable to witness her so called cleverness. Her match is the French man, Blaise, Lord something. But he never really seemed to be there.

Instead of being cast as a main character he should stayed away as an outlier. The plot was good but the many misunderstandings could have been settled easily by communicating with each other. It Misunderstandings should be the title O God. It was lovely how some of the secondary characters did end up with someone. Loved it A terrific traditional Regency with a twist to the plot and an engaging heroine.
